The Sigma 500mm f/5.6 DG DN OS Sports Lens is designed for the full-frame Leica L Mount. Designed as an ultra-telephoto prime in a lightweight and compact form factor. Offering robust construction and advances in optical design and optical stabilisation, this delivers professional-grade performance when used handheld as well as in difficult shooting conditions.
The Sigma 500mm f/5.6 DG DN OS Sports Lens features 20 lens elements in 14 groups, also with three FLD elements and two SLD elements to effectively prevent flare and ghosting to promote image clarity. Equipped with a HLA (High-Response Linear Actuator) focusing motor offers quick, quiet and precise autofocus performance.
Body and Optical Design
The Sigma 500mm f/5.6 DG DN OS Sports Lens features an improved optical design that situates low-dispersion convex elements at the front of the lens. This is to realise a lighter form and high optical performance with excellent aberration corrections.
20 lens elements in 14 groups, also with three FLD elements and two SLD elements to effectively prevent flare and ghosting to promote image clarity.
The construction material of the lens body is a Thermally Stable Composite and magnesium for a robust, dust- and splash-resistant construction.
OS2 Optical Stabiliser Algorithm
The advanced OS2 optical stabilisation algorithm provides up to 5 stops of image stabilisation. Further the OS2, the compact form factor makes it easier to shoot handheld and opens the ability to shoot at lower shutter speeds.
HLA Autofocus System
The Sigma 500mm f/5.6 DG DN OS Sports Lens is equipped with a HLA (High-Response Linear Actuator) focusing motor that offers quick, quiet and precise autofocus performance. The HLA autofocus system also benefits sports photography, and other fast-moving subjects such as cars, planes, and birds in flight to ensure the best moment is not missed.
