The NiSi 100 x 150mm Explorer Reverse-Graduated IRND 0.9 Filter (3-Stop) is compatible with filter holders capable of holding 100mm wide filters with a thickness of 2mm. Designed to darken specific areas of an image such as bright skies while still allowing normal unaffected exposure to the rest of the image.
A band of density can be found across the centre of the filter, this will reduce the amount of light entering the lens. Perfect for photographing sunrise of sunset. The band extends in both horizontal directions for about 4mm where density tapers gradually.
The NiSi 100 x 150mm Explorer Reverse-Graduated IRND 0.9 Filter (3-Stop) is made from tempered Schott B270 glass, which makes it shock resistant as well as increases clarity and colour fidelity. A layer of NiSi Optical Nano Coating is applied to all surfaces of the filter, with this coating applied it is easier to clean your filter and an improved beading effect will be seen when in contact with oil or water.
- Compatible with filter holders that can accommodate 100mm wide, 2mm thick filters
- Effectively darkens bright skies, specifically during a sunrise or sunset, while allowing for a normal, unaffected exposure in the other regions of the image
- 3-stop band of density that tapers to a 0.5-stop density at the edge above it while directly above a clear area
- Creates a neutral density pattern that matches the positioning of the sun when it is at, or immediately above, the horizon
- Density pattern corresponds to the brightness pattern of the sun when it appears at or is closer to the horizon as opposed to a higher angle, which creates an increase in brightness that is more prominent on both sides of the sun than above it
- Hard-edged line of transition between the 3-stop band of density and the clear area below it is useful for hard transitions between the sky and land
- 3-stop to 0.5-stop gradation is applicable to multiple regions of brightness within the sky
- Filter does not affect the overall colouration of the image
- Each surface includes one layer of NiSi Optical Nano Coating that attenuates infrared light as well as visible wavelengths, to maintain colour neutrality and suppress colour casts due to increased exposure times
- Tempered Schott B270 glass construction for shock resistance, as well as increased optical clarity and colour fidelity
- Nano coating provides an improved beading effect with water or oil for more efficient cleaning
