The Blackmagic Design Micro Studio Camera 4K G2 allows you to install a camera anywhere in your studio or on location. This UHD 4K studio camera is specifically designed for live productions and the G2 version now features the same sensor as the Blackmagic Design Studio Camera 4K Plus G2 with support for 3840 x 2160p60.
The Blackmagic Design Micro Studio Camera 4K G2 features an active MFT mount, so it can accept native MFT lenses, or it can be adapted to a wide range of other modern, and vintage lenses.
It outputs 10-bit 4:2:2 video via 12G-SDI and you can use SDI control protocol to remotely control it from an ATEM switcher. Furthermore, many professional features are packed into a small form factor in the Blackmagic Design Micro Studio Camera 4K G2, three include a built-in colour corrector, program return, talkback as well as a tally indicator.
Compact Size for Live Productions
When you have very limited space on set, the Blackmagic Design Micro Studio Camera 4K G2 is perfect due to the very small form factor. It features the popular MFT lens mount, a very low-light 4K sensor along with cinematic colour science so it is small, but still features all the benefits of a full-sized studio camera.
You also get 12G-SDI for HD and UHD 4K operation up to 2160p60. It's also possible to control the built-in colour corrector and lens using the SDI and HDMI connections. It can even record Blackmagic RAW to USB disks. Plus the Blackmagic G2 Micro Studio Camera 4K goes well beyond broadcast quality with log gamma, allowing you to create cinematic color-corrected looks, all in camera.
Low-Light Performance
An ISO of up to 25.600 makes it possible to film in the daytime as well as at nighttime. 400 ISO is the primary native for use under studio lighting, while the secondary high base ISO of 3200 is ideal for shooting in low light conditions.
Cinematic Images in Live Production
The same imaging technology as a digital film camera is possible with the 4K sensor combined with the BlackMagic generation 5. Combined with the built-in DaVinci colour corrector it is possible to get much better images than lower-grade broadcast cameras. The 13 stops of dynamic range make blacks brighter and whites brighter, good for colour correction. The sensor features a resolution of 4096 x 2160, which is great for both HD and UHD work. Plus, all BlackMagic models support from 23.98 up to 60 fps.
Affordable Photographic Lenses
With the MFT lens mount, the BlackMagic cameras are compatible with a wide variety of affordable photographic lenses. It is also possible to the adjust focus and zoom demand remotely, this means zoom and focus can be adjusted without camera shake as when done manually.
Built-In Tally
BlackMagic Studio Cameras all feature a large tally light shining red for on-air, green for preview, and orange indicating ISO recording.
Broadcast Connections
Setup is exceptionally fast with 12D-SDI supported for video, tally.and camera return. It includes a full-sized HDMI connector for local video monitoring to attach a monitor like a Blackmagic Video Assist to change settings or the position of a remote camera. You also get a USB-C expansion port for recording to external disks or controlling the camera via zoom and focus demands. You can even connect a USB-C to an Ethernet adapter to control the camera over a network via REST APIs. Plus, there's a 3.5mm port for connecting a microphone.
Two Ways to Connect
Featuring HDMI output makes the Studio Micro perfect for any HDMI switcher. The HDMI supports video, tally, control, and record triggers for a broadcast-style workflow using a single HDMI cable. They also have 12G-SDI so you can connect to SDI-based switchers such as the ATEM Constellation. There's a 12G-SDI connection for camera video and one for program return. The program return also includes a tally, talkback, and remote camera control.
Built-In Microphones
For a much faster setup, the Blackmagic Design Micro Studio Camera 4K G2 features built-in microphones. Each microphone is placed in optimal locations to provide better stereo separation than normally available in regular video cameras. If larger more directional microphones are needed, you will also find a 3.5mm audio input.
USB-C for External Disks and Ethernet Control
A high-speed USB-C expansion port can be found, this allows for recording to external disks, control over a network, or allowing you to connect a wide variety of accessories. When an external USB drive is connected, you can record high-quality 12-bit Blackmagic RAW files for later editing and colour correction.
By adding a USB-C to Ethernet adapter, you are able to control the camera over a network via REST APIs.
Blackmagic RAW Quality
Some file formats like H.264 that are highly compressed and add noise and artefacts may cause senor detail to be lost forever. Therefore the BlackMagic RAW format is designed to capture and preserve the quality of the sensor data from the camera.
Blackmagic OS
The Blackmagic Design Micro Studio Camera 4K G2 is a true modern-day system on which all camera functions run independently for smoother control and fast power. It is easy to operate the camera when located in tight locations due to the row of buttons on the front to access menus and settings.
