Early last week, we shared a teaser image from Fujifilm depicting a new X-series camera with a pronounced viewfinder hump, which was a departure from their previous rangefinder-style X cameras.
This week, the camera was revealed to be the Fujifilm X-T1, a mirrorless camera with classic good looks, manual dials and controls, the well-known X-Trans II 16 megapixel sensor, and a big, bright electronic viewfinder, which has been described as "IMAX-like" by The Verge.
Quick rundown of the key specifications:
- High-precision 2.36 million dot OLED viewfinder, featuring highest viewfinder magnification for digital cameras of 0.77x and ultra fast Real Time Viewfiner with a lag-time of 0.005sec, which is less than 1/10 of existing models.
- World's fastest AF of 0.08 seconds is achieved with Fujifilm's proprietary imaging area phase-detection.
- EXR Processor II — with more than twice as fast a processing speed as the previous processor.
- Phase detection AF and motion predictive AF for continuous shooting up to 8 frames per second.
- Dust and water-resistant body with approximately 80 points of weather sealing. Freeze resistance to -10℃.
- 16.3 megapixel APS-C size X-Trans™ CMOS II sensor with original color array to control moiré and false colors without a optical low path filter.
- Die-cast magnesium body provides a sturdy and durable, while compact and lightweight design.
- Double-deck, precision-milled aluminum dials for shutter speed, ISO setting, exposure compensation, metering and drive mode, with notched settings.
- Twin command dials and six Function buttons for instant control and customization.
Needless to say, we can't wait to get our hands on this camera! Local South African Fujifilm X-photographer Neill Soden was offered the opportunity of shooting with a pre-production X-T1, and we're proud to announce that his photos are being used in the international marketing material for the new camera.
