Today we going behind the scenes to give you a little glimpse inside the Orms picture framing factory here in Cape Town. We offer a wide range of traditional picture framing techniques, from cut-&-join framing and conservation framing, to shadow box framing, block mounting, custom framing, canvas stretching and more. Your journey will most likely to start here with Rita or one of the other framing consultants who will assist you with some ideas and advice if you are not quite sure where to start. Traditional Picture Framing: Apart from conventional cut-&-join framing, Orms has become the leader in custom framing, with expertise ranging from frame design to master reproduction. We specialise in numerous framing and mounting procedures, and go out of our way to meet your needs and turn your vision into a reality.

Custom Picture Framing: We not only manufacture frames from scratch to your specific measurements, we’ve also perfected the Duco spray-painting technique resulting in a silky smooth, colour finish on almost any surface – a popular choice amongst artists and galleries.

Conservation/Total Archival Framing: The choice of museums, collectors and art investors, conservation or total archival framing ensures a lifetime of protection or preservation of an artwork. With 20 years experience in this particular speciality, we have mastered the fine art of conservation or archival framing:

• We import the highest-quality museum glass from Germany. This glass is 98% UV resistant with extraordinary non-reflective properties.
• We mount onto various archival substrates of which Dibond® is the most commonly used worldwide.
• We are the sole agent of Diasec® in Africa, making South Africa one of only eight countries in the world licensed to perform this exclusive archival face-mounting procedure.

Shadow Box Framing: A popular contemporary method of framing, shadow box framing is a great way to frame those precious 3D objects or collector’s items. Box-like in profile, shadow box framing uses various frame depths to achieve different effects. We can achieve different depths (up to 100 mm) and offer an extensive range of colours from which to choose.
